Moon Hough is the co-owner and co-founder of The Safari Series; a series of safari properties in Kenya, including The Safari Series - Lolldaiga and The Safari Series - Lamu.

Moon has lived and worked in Kenya since graduating from university and has spent her time working in tourism in a number of capacities, both on the luxury lodge side and on the operator side. This foundation in all facets of the hospitality industry means that Moon has a deep knowledge of travel and tourism in Kenya.

Since starting The Safari Series in November 2019 (worst timing ever!), Moon has expanded her knowledge to sales, bookings, accounts, operations, procurement, HR and everything in between. As the pandemic took hold of the first two years of business, Moon learnt skills that only come from ‘making things work’. Post-pandemic, Moon and Ed made a promise to work to protect the stunning landscape by donating profits towards community-led conservation projects.

Moon is passionate about bringing the safari experience to a larger and more diverse group of travelers and truly believes in the David Attenborough quote: ‘No one will protect what they don’t care about, and no one will care about what they have never experienced’. Moon was mentioned as an ‘inspiring woman in travel’ by The Conscious Travel Foundation.

Moon is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has wide ranging interests from reading, podcasts, art and movies to horse riding, walking and swimming and, in 2023, spent a year learning the technique to building a cob (read: mud) house, a passion project that led to the building of a fully ‘zero cement’ home.

In 2023, Moon and Ed founded the African Private Guides Network - a network of Africa’s best Black African private safari guides that seamlessly brings together guides to offer travelers an unparalleled and enriching experience throughout their time in Africa. The network comprises the very best in the industry, providing insightful, knowledgeable, and high-quality hosting.

Last, but not least, Moon is Mum to the coolest safari kids this side of Mt. Kenya: Romilly & Patrick <3.
