Proud to have won our fourth TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award for 2024
The Safari Series has won its fourth TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award in a row, making it in the top 10% of the world’s best hotels.
It is all thanks to the hard work and tireless effort of our great staff, and huge thanks goes to the guests who took the time to write so many nice things about us on the TripAdvisor website.
Why not have a read of just some of the good things that have been said over the past 12 months?
Here is a truly magical review, written by a guest from Norway who visited with her family in February 2024:
‘When sitting down to write this review, it was hard to know where to start; how to truly convey the magical experience our family had at the Safari Series.
We were met at the gate by James, our wonderful guide, who can spot animals from the farthest distance, but who also taught us a lot about everything from plants to trees; how everything is interconnected. James is a naturalist and professional safari guide and conservation activist, and extremely passionate about his work. He took us on games drives both morning, afternoon, and night, and on a walking safari with an armed ranger and a community visit. We also spent a night under the stars, eating dinner by the fireside and sharing stories. Waking up at 5.30 to watch the sunrise with a view to Mount Kenya was truly unforgettable, as was enjoying sundowners mixed expertly by James. We also got to enjoy a self-drive in a 1960 Land Rover series 2.
Since Lolldaiga Hills is a private conservancy and Safari Series the only tented camp here, we hardly saw anyone else during our stay. The camp operates with a clear commitment to sustainability and environmental protection and is extremely family friendly. We would absolutely recommend bringing kids and teenagers here, our 14-year-old had the time of her life. We saw a cheetah, several lions, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, impalas, zebras and several beautiful birds. We did not get to see a leopard, so we will have to come back for that!
The tent was comfortable and felt very private, and we really enjoyed the washroom with the bucket showers and flushing loo. We also enjoyed spending time in the mess tent, chatting with other guests, reading, and relaxing.
Jimmy, the camp manager was always available to help with anything, and Mary gives the best massages! The food was amazing, two of the high lights was a vegetarian lasagna, and the tomato soup which we enjoyed al fresco in the northern part of the conservancy. Lots of lovely, fresh salads as well, not to mention the hummus!
Ed and Moon, the owners were lovely, it was great hearing their story, and both ahead of, and during our stay, our questions were always answered quickly. Moons recommendations for what to do were spot on and suited us perfectly. And when we managed to forget an iPad when we left, she managed to courier it to Nairobi the next day, even though it was Easter!
We stayed for four nights and would recommend this length of stay if you have the time. The conservancy is so vast, the nature is so diverse and magnificent and there are so many activities.
Our visit has created memories that will last a lifetime, and we are already longing to return.’
