Eating & drinking at Chuchungi House

At Chuchungi House, food is a celebration of the sea and Swahili coast heritage. Our talented kitchen team, led by Chef Benard is trained by The Safari Series and crafts daily menus built around locally caught, fresh fish, seasonal produce, and the rich, layered flavours of Lamu - a blend of Swahili, Arabic, Portuguese, and Kenyan influences. Who doesn’t love a fresh coconut (in Swahili: ‘madafu’) to cool off after a morning on the water!).

For families, there's a Kids’ Menu featuring favourites like crispy fish fingers and tomato pasta, while adventurous little ones can join in vongole (clam) picking along the shoreline.

We’re happy to set up sundowners or beach dinners under the stars - and we often set up in beautiful spots along our coastline. It’s relaxed, beautiful, and delicious - just like Lamu.

Depending on the season, prawns, crabs, octopus, lobster, tuna and many types of fish and more are served up as delicious creations by our kitchen team.

We cater for allergies, likes/dislikes and preferences. Just let us know in advance since the nearest shop is quite a while away!
