Introducing Yaye, our House Manager at Chuchungi House
Meet Yaye: Our Warm and Welcoming House Manager
We're thrilled to introduce you to Yaye, the heart and soul of Chuchungi House. A Lamu island native, Yaye's roots here run deep – her grandmother was born on this picturesque island. After teaching abroad in China and Casablanca, and living in the USA, Yaye couldn't resist the pull of Lamu's tranquil shores and returned home in 2022.
Yaye resides in Shela with her husband and their adorable baby boy, Akili. Her journey back to Lamu was not just a return to her roots but a testament to her deep-seated love for this island and its rich cultural tapestry. And even Yaye’s husband, Harrison, has a connection to the house - it’s his artistic side that brings all the great photos taken of the house which you find on this website!
At Chuchungi House, Yaye's warmth, compassion, and meticulous attention to detail shine through in everything she does. Whether it's ensuring your comfort upon arrival or providing insightful local tips, Yaye's presence is sure to make your stay extra special.
You'll have the pleasure of meeting Yaye as you transition from plane to boat, where she'll greet you with a warm smile and guide you to the house. Once at the house, she will show you around, take you through the room booklet and check you into your rooms. She will also introduce you to the rest of the team and make sure your feeling comfortable and totally relaxed to start the beach-side stay of your holiday!
Her passion for Lamu and her genuine care for our guests make her an invaluable member of our team and when you stay at Chuchungi House, Yaye embodies the spirit of Lamu hospitality, making your experience not just memorable but truly exceptional.
