The Safari Series sponsors local football team

When the captain of the local football team got in touch to request help to buy kit, we offered to buy new shorts, shirts, balls and training equipment.

Daigahills FC is made up of local youths from the village, many of whom have worked as a labourer building the camp in its early days. The team was founded to provide support to those who face unemployment, poverty and rising issues with drugs and alcohol.

Many of the team members rely on the team as a source of entertainment, a way of keeping fit and making friendships in times when there is little else to do in the surrounding area. The coach of the team told Moon (camp owner) that the team was a real inspiration to many and they hoped to start a girls team too. The coach also supports a youth team that practises at the Mugumo Primary School after school - children of all ages do drills, ballwork and team skills after lessons each week.

We went and watched the first match in the new kit - a resounding win 3-0 to Daigahills FC! Congrats πŸŽ‰.
